Reflection

The blog was useful for freewriting and brainstorming for papers. It was also useful to read the comments when I got them and to read other students' blogs to get different perspectives on topics. I think normally a lot of students aren't heard in classes because they are too shy to speak up in class, but using the blogs allowed for everyone to be heard. This allowed for more participation from everyone and a greater ability to learn. Blogging is a good way to get things off your chest if you feel the need to do so. It might be a healthy thing for some people to have to write in everyday and could be a good form of entertainment for others. I know personally I have always read Gilbert Arenas' blog because it interests me and lets you into aspects of his life that you don't get from the news or Sportscenter. Using the mid-term evaluations I took the professor's advice and tried to use more descriptive words that said exactly how I felt, using more "show" words. I also tried to pose more questions, especially for the last paper in order to get more response from classmates. Blogging just seemed to be much more convenient than printing off all of the assignments and bringing them in to be graded. Doing it that way wouldn't allow us to see each others opinions on everything.

I definitely agree with Chris that blogging gave everyone in the class a chance to be heard and express their thoughts. I also read professional athletes' blogs and I find it a great way for someone to get something off their chest and possibly connect a fan to a sports figure with common interests. I can usually find some pretty crazy blogs on urban legend sites and read them for fun. Blogging has now made everyone a writer and able to publish their thoughts for the world to see.

There are a few sports blogs that I like to read as well. I read two high school football blogs every week and another on espn.com. I agree that it lets you into personal aspects of the writiers lives but I also like the informal nature of blogs. People tend to write a blog in a more open form and I like that as opposed to a structured article. Oftentimes more personal opinions are involved and although you get much of the same information as in a formal article, it has a different feel to it which I enjoy. Also, I wanted to mention that some of your comments on my blog were especially helpful to me.
